Caleuche is in ghost ship from a legend that comes from the island of Chiloé, from the south of Chile. At night, she is appears out of nowhere with its dazzling white sails, only to suddenly disappear again and continue its journey underwater.

The work is an interactive installation. A large projection screen made of plastic sheets woven using the traditional Chilean Mapuche loom. It is a highly polluting plastic packaging material that is no longer produced in Europe for environmental reasons. Like a mirror image of the floating carpet of rubbish that causes the death of numerous species of animals in the Pacific Ocean, the projection screen shows on its rippled and transparent surface, accompanied by soprano sounds, the undercheckingenuswasserfa of moulded waterfages. The projection screen, sewn together from several pieces, refers to the white sails of the ghost ship. Caleuche is a work that looks back on Chilean history and mythology from today's perspective, making explicit reference to the dramatic environmental pollution in the Pacific.

Caleuche ist ein Geisterschiff aus einer Legende, die von der Insel Chiloé, aus dem Süden Chiles, stammt. Nachts taucht es mit seinen blendend weißen Segeln aus dem Nichts auf, um dann plötzlich wieder zu verschwinden und seine Fahrt unter Wasser fortzusetzen.

Die Arbeit ist eine interaktive Installation. Einer großen Projektionswand aus Plastik Blätter, die mithilfe des traditionellen chilenischen Mapuche Webstuhls gewoben wurde. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein hoch verschmutzendes Verpackungsmaterial aus Kunststoff, welches aus Umwelt Gründen in Europa nicht mehr hergestellt wird. Gleich einem Spiegelbild des schwimmenden Müllteppichs, der den Tod zahlreicher Tierarten im Pazifischen Ozean verursacht, gibt die Projektionswand auf ihrer gekräuselten und transparenten Oberfläche, untermalt von Sopranklängen,
die Unterwasserfauna in Form von diffusen Erscheinungen wieder. Die aus mehreren Teilen zusammengenähte Projektionswand verweist auf die weißen Segel des Geisterschiffes. Caleuche ist eine Arbeit, die aus heutiger Perspektive auf die chilenische Geschichte und Mythologie zurückblickt und dabei explizit Bezug auf die dramatische Umweltverschmutzung im Pazifik nimmt.

Caleuche es un barco fantasma de una leyenda que viene de la isla de Chiloé, en el sur de Chile. Por la noche aparece de la nada con sus deslumbrantes velas blancas, luego vuelve a desaparecer repentinamente y continúa su viaje bajo el agua.

La obra es una instalación interactiva. Una gran pantalla de proyección realizada con láminas de plástico tejidas con el tradicional telar mapuche chileno. Se trata de un material de embalaje de plástico altamente contaminante que ya no se fabrica en Europa por motivos medioambientales. Como un espejo de la alfombra flotante de basura, que provoca la muerte de numerosas especies animales en el Océano Pacífico, la pantalla de proyección en su superficie ondulada y transparente, acompañada de sonidos de soprano, reproduce la fauna submarina en forma de fenómenos difusos. La pantalla de proyección cosida de varias partes se refiere a las velas blancas del barco fantasma. Caleuche es una obra que mira hacia atrás en la historia y la mitología chilenas desde la perspectiva actual y hace referencia explícita a la dramática contaminación ambiental en el Pacífico.
